10 Weird Boating Laws in the U.S.

Some were written out of necessity, some were written out of spite or extreme situations. Some just seem like they were written for no reason at all. But these 10 weird laws still exist today. 

All residents may be fined as a result of not owning a boat.

New Jersey
It is illegal for men to knit during fishing season.

No fishing from a giraffe’s neck.

While you’re in Chicago, you can’t fish in your pajamas or from a giraffe.

It is illegal to live on a boat for more than 30 days.

Absolutely no fishing from horseback in Utah or Washington, D.C.

It is illegal to lasso a fish.

Single woman are not allowed to fish alone.

You may not catch a fish with your hands in Indiana, Kansas or Pennsylvania.

It is illegal to get a fish drunk.
