Follow FAA regulations
With the majority of the Earth covered in water, the chances are high that in your many adventures, you will be flying over water. From our perspective on the ground, most waters seem manageable like lakes and rivers, but in the event of a ditch, those too can present danger to the pilot and passenger. The FAA has regulations in place to protect you and enable unlimited exploration.
Now that all passengers and crew are required to wear an FAA approved life vest at all times during transit over water beyond the rotorcraft’s autorotational distance, it is all the more important to consider comfort when purchasing your life vest.
SWITLIK’s selection of constant-wear life vests has a superior advantage in comfort and durability over the competition. Each vest is FAA Approved and specifically designed for constant wear in the seated position in your aircraft. The vests allow for full range of motion and fit well with any required gear.
The FAA also requires for flights over 50 miles overwater operations a life raft for Parts 91.501, 121, 125 and 135 aircraft. But even in the summer, large bodies of water are an unforgiving environment, with hypothermia being a constant threat. For all aircrafts, including Part 91 General, a raft is the best protection against the elements, when going further than gliding distance from land.
